Class this week, Aug 24

Students,

I enjoyed seeing each of you in class last week.  I hope you enjoyed it, too.  If not, there’s only 29 more classes to go! 🙂

Great job on bringing in those signed items and your Homework Assignment Sheets! I think just about all of you have figured out how to access your homework assignments now.  Please don’t hesitate to email or call with questions (before noon on Wednesday if you need a response by Thursday).  Many of the concepts we are covering are new for you… dimensional analysis, significant figures, writing a lab report properly.  The list goes on, so please ask if you need help.

  • Remember there will be a quiz August 31 over the metric conversion flashcards, the lab equipment, and the Lab Safety Contract.
  • For your Prelab report this week, please refer to the Lab Report Format which is linked to the Homework page and your notes from last week! (A Prelab is ONLY sections I-IV.)
  • If you want some more help with Chapter 1, see this video or this one.
  • Remember to bring all of your needed school supplies/tools to class each week.  See here. Email me if you don’t know the password.

I will see you Thursday!  jb

HW due August 29

burnerGreat work today!  Six quick reminders for this week:

1.  Your new homework is posted on the Homework page.  The Module 1 Test and Answer Sheet are linked.  Please put final answers on the Answer Sheet and show your work on notebook paper.  I will collect the Answer Sheet and your notebook paper.  You may only use a calculator for the test.  Conversions must be memorized.

2.  Finish all calculations from the lab which you didn’t finish in class in section V. of your lab report.  Also, write up a Conclusion for the lab (what, how, why, errors?) in section VI of your lab report.

3. Study these flashcards for Module 2.

4. Quiz is next week:  metric conversions and units, lab equipment, lab safety contract.

5. Next week we will be using the burners.  Remember to dress appropriately!

6. Email me if you have questions!

Syllabus, Lab Safety Contract, etc.

Students,

Remember to return your signed Syllabus and Lab Safety Contract this week!  You and a parent must both sign both of them.  Please place them in your notebooks as the first and second items.

Be sure to be studying for the August 29 quiz.  Here is the link to the flashcards again.  The quiz will cover the Lab Safety Contract, lab equipment, and the metric conversions (flashcards and notes from class).  There might even be an extra credit question or two… read the “About Mrs. Bundy” page.

Please email me with questions about the lab report for this week.  You must have one written in order to participate.

See you soon!

You can also view what we will do in class here.  Don’t forget those signed Syllabi and Safety Contracts, too.

Parent meeting is @ 3PM in Room 201.  See you soon!

Don’t forget…

Hi New Students-

The first day is quickly approaching.  Don’t forget that there is an assignment due Thursday.  Also, read the flow chart below.  For a couple of bonus points, copy this down in your notebook and show me Thursday.  For the full lesson online, go here.   We will get to this very soon!

Also, I emailed the Syllabus and Lab Safety Contracts today to your parents.  These need to be printed, signed, and placed in your notebooks for Thursday.  We will set up the rest of your notebooks that day.  No need to do that yet.  See you soon!
