Homeschool Chemistry Classes in the Memphis Area
Great work today! New homework is posted. There will be a quiz Sep 8 over the elements and symbols #1-20 on the periodic table. Print the table from the Homework Page to study. Prelab is in the book this week- p.47.
Have a great weekend! jb
Good job today, everyone! I hope that you are getting into the routine of things with this class. I know there’s so much that is new. Remember to always ask questions when you have them.
Remember for this week- if you need me before Thursday, you’ll have to email or call before noon on Wednesday. 🙂
Your new homework is posted. You’ll notice that my Chapter 1 Test and new lab handout are posted, too. Please take the book test first (and check it on your own)- you’ll be glad you did! Then take my test to turn in Aug 25. You must show your work for all the math problems and use correct significant figures. Use the lab handout this week, not the book experiment. (It’s different.)
Have a wonderful week! jb
Students,
I enjoyed seeing each of you in class today. I hope you enjoyed it, too. If not, there’s only 29 more classes to go! 🙂
Your homework for next week is posted on the homework page (HW due Aug 18). Please don’t hesitate to email or call with questions (before noon on Wednesday if you need a response by Thursday). Many of the concepts we are covering are new for you… dimensional analysis, significant figures, writing a lab report properly. The list goes on, so please ask if you need help.
Remember there will be a quiz August 25 over the metric conversion factors, the lab equipment drawings/table, and the lab safety contract.
For your lab report this week, please refer to the Lab Report Format which is linked to the Homework page and your notes from today!
If you want some help with Chapter 1 and the conversions, see this video.
I will see you next week! jb
Parents & Students,
If you are receiving this post, then you have correctly “followed” my chemistry page. 👏🏼 You will receive most all class updates related to homework and assignments from this blog. Tell your friends who have not yet “followed” me to do it ASAP (there are several who have not followed me)!
The first and second homework assignments are now posted (Due Aug 11 & 18). Please bring your printed, completed, and signed Assignment Sheet (Aug 11), as well as, your signed Syllabus and Lab Safety Contract to class with you tomorrow. (And of course, all class supplies and completed homework.)
I look forward to seeing you tomorrow!
JB
Students,
Your spring semester final grades are posted (including your exam today). We had four perfect scores- wow! 🎉
As a side note, if you decide you don’t want to receive next year’s emails (as I’m thinking you won’t), please notice the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of this email. 🙂
Have a wonderful summer! And feel free to stop by my room next year to say, “hi!”

Students,
You’re almost there! One more class… Exam Day. Final grades will be posted by May 5.
It has truly been a joy teaching you all this year. I know that this class was not everyone’s favorite :), but I hope that even the challenges have allowed you to see God’s hand in your life. You have accomplished so much in the last 29 Thursdays.
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to teach you. Thank you for your attentiveness in class and diligence at home with your work.
May God grant you grace in all your future endeavors (including next week’s exam :)).
No homework this week, just study. I’ll see you then! jb
Parents & Students,
As we approach the end of the school year, please keep the following things in mind:
Have a great week! I’ll see you Thursday. jb
Hey Kiddos-
Because the weather is warming up, this is a friendly reminder that legs and feet must be covered in chemistry class. No exceptions!
