Module 7 Homework, etc.

Hey Guys- two quick items…

1- thanks to Daylor for discovering the homework error.  It looks like I messed up Day One. You might want to start with Day Two today and work on Day One later.

2- the unknowns were CaCl2 and BaCl2. Be sure to include whether you got these right or not in your Postlab. If you did not, include an explanation.
Have a great weekend! JB

Fun lab next week!

Students,

Please be sure to dress appropriately for our fun Flame Test lab next week (cover your legs and feet, pull back your hair).

When you have time Monday or Tuesday, watch this video (and any of the others along the left-hand side of the page) for a review of the Module 7 material.

Enjoy your weekend! Geaux Tigers! 🙂 jb

Homework due Week 11

Doesn’t that sound good?  Can you believe there are only 5 classes left this semester? Be sure you are studying for your Semester Exam on Dec 3.

Hope you enjoyed the lab today and learned more about the application of the mole in chemistry. Your new homework is posted.  I will see you in a week!  jb

National Mole Day and National Chem Week

Students,

We will celebrate National Mole Day and National Chemistry Week next week (10/22/15) with a special lab.  There is no prelab this week.  However, some of you still have calculations to finish if your group didn’t finish them in class today from Lab 5.1.  There is help on p.39 of the Solutions Manual. Be sure to write your postlab paragraph and finish the calcs.

**Also, you will want to begin studying now for your Semester Exam on December 3.**  This exam will cover your old test questions from Modules 1-7 (i.e. studying your old tests and studying with a friend is highly recommended). The exam will be multiple choice. Significant figures and units count.

We will not have time to review in class for this so it is imperative that you study at home (when I went over the old tests in class the first time to correct them was really your in-class review :)).  Feel free to stop by after class to ask questions.

See you next week!  jb

Fall Break has arrived!

Fall Creek FallsStudents,

We will not meet again until October 15 due to Fall Break.

While you’re gone:

-Please finish the balancing equations worksheet

-there’s no postlab (thanks to Daylor for asking)

-email a picture of your postlab questions from last week by midnight if you forgot them today

-also, the reaction I gave you for bonus points on the projector had an error 😦

Thanks to Ashlyn for noticing… The NO should be NO2.

Your new homework is posted (you have one week of homework due in two weeks). Enjoy your break! jb

Finishing Mod 4

Students,

As you are finishing Module 4 this week, please view this video and practice as much as possible!

Also, be sure to answer the postlab questions (from the handout) in your LAB NOTEBOOK, as well as, place the identity of your unknown in your postlab paragraph. (Don’t forget to write the paragraph.)

Have a great weekend! jb

Please don’t forget!

Students,

Please remember that I highly recommend that you take the time to do the Module 3 book test before taking my test :).

Also, this week your Prelab will come from the handout linked to the Homework page of the website.  Be sure to draw the data tables into your V. Data section before class.

Enjoy your weekend… Fall Break will be here before you know it!  jb

Postlab reminder

Students,

Don’t forget to include the items that were listed on the board last Thursday in your Postlab this week.

(2 temps, 2 colors, & 2 masses; as well as, an explanation of what each of these six things tells us about the results.  You must also include the word “exothermic” in your Postlab.  Use your book or the Google machine with a citation, of course.)

See you in a few days! jb
