Your next homework…

Hey Gang,

Hope you enjoyed the Mole Lab!  Your new homework is posted.  Remember to call with any questions… we are getting into some difficult math.

In the meantime, feel free to begin working through any of these stoichiometry videos/exercises for extra help:  https://www.khanacademy.org/science/chemistry/chemical-reactions-stoichiometry

Have a great week!  jb

2 errors

Students,

I need to correct two errors… On my last email, I wrote that we resume Oct 14. The Bridge resumes that day, chemistry will resume October 16. I’m sure you figure that out. Also, on the Balancing Equations Worksheet #1, please skip #12-15. I’ll explain why later. :). Thanks! JB

Fall Break is here!

Students,

We will not meet again until October 14 due to Fall Break. Your new homework is posted. Enjoy your break and be safe as you”combust” around town in a vehicle!  Aren’t we glad God made hydrocarbons!?

See you in two weeks!  JB

Fall Break is coming!

Students,

We will meet next week, but Fall Break is coming… October 6-10.  No class or homework that week.

Your new homework is posted.  Try this link for an interactive exercise.  Don’t forge to log in first.  This exercise will get you ready for what we are going to do during lab time on Thursday.  Pay no attention to the programming side of things (on the left), just play around with the reaction side.  When the reaction is balanced, all of the atoms will be used up.  Cool, huh?

Have a great week!  See you next Thursday!  jb

Lab 3.1, homework, etc.

red cabbageStudents-

You guys did a great job with the electrode lab today.  If your class did not get to complete both labs today, you will complete Lab 3.1 next week.

Also, I’ve noticed that about half of you are not logging into Khan and viewing the videos I’m sending.  Please, please, please do it this week and the following weeks.  Things are about to get really serious!  Here is a video for this week.  Please log in and view it.  Then practice with this exercise.  You will be glad you did.

Remember that when you take your test this week, you are to use the Periodic Table linked to the homework page… not the one in the book and not the one we made notes on in class.

Have a great weekend!  jb

Periodic Table

Students,

Please print two copies of the first page of the Periodic Table listed on the homework page for class this week.  We will do some coloring and highlighting on one in class.  The other copy will be a clean copy that you will use for the rest of your chemistry tests.

In class, in addition to the Element/Prefix Quiz and notes, we will attempt to complete both labs (3.1 & 3.2).   Please dress appropriately and bring both prelabs!

See you soon! jb

A change of plans- sort of…

As you know by now, due to the power outage from the weather, my B & C classes were canceled. The new homework is posted.  We will try to complete both labs next week. I will pick up two week’s of work next week from the B and C classes.

Quiz is Sept 18- study the flashcards… as I stated in class, spelling counts!

Please view these videos if you haven’t already. Log in to your Khan Academy account and then view the videos:

See you next week!  jb

New homework is ready

Students,

Your new homework is posted.  There’s no homework on Labor Day.  Yay!

Y’all are getting the hang of these lab reports, so that’s fantastic.  I will see you again next week for another burner lab; be sure you are dressed appropriately.  We will also spend a good amount of time going over more Calorimetry. 🙂

See you next time! jb

HW due August 28 is posted

Students,

Your new homework is posted.  Note that there is a test Friday.  The test is linked to the Homework page. Please print it and the Answer Sheet before you take your test.  Your final answers go on the Answer Sheet.  You must also turn in your work on a piece of notebook paper.  NO work = NO credit.  Show your work, please, and turn your test in next Thursday.  Remember that there is also a quiz next week.

For the Postlab, re-read the Lab Report Format on the Homework page.  Remember that you also need to complete calculations for the stations you visited in class as part of your Postlab.  I will look at these next week.

As always, feel free to call or email with any questions!  jb
