Types of Bonds

Hey Gang,

This video will help with the types of bonds we discussed today.  (Your book doesn’t cover Metallic Bonds, but you might find it interesting.)

Your homework is updated. Remember I’m changing the lab for next week… We will ONLY do 9.1 and finish the Molecular Geometry lab. Also, no test until next week. Email with any questions!  JB

PS- we will be having a quiz Jan 23 on the geometrical shape names and angles from Module 9.  You might start looking at those now.  We will make a table next week in class.

Last class…

Believe it or not, December 5 is the last class of the semester.  Here are a few reminders:

  • You may bring a snack to share while we build with the Geometrical Molecular Models.  If you list the  chemical formulas for 3 ingredients on an index card, you will receive bonus points.
  • New homework is posted.  Here are the Module 8 flashcards.
  • Enjoy the break!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, Kids!

I hope you all have had a relaxing and fun break! Can you believe you are only 15 weeks away from the end of your chemistry class :)?

If one of your resolutions for 2013 is to be more diligent in your studies for any class, here’s a link you really should read. I think it’s an excellent resource. It’s really for college prep, but I think it would be perfect for homeschoolers as well. Plus, who doesn’t need a little early prep for college?

Now to our business at hand…

-You know there is one week of homework posted which is due on January 10. I will collect the Dec 6 assignment sheet as well as the Jan 10 one that day.
-We also will have a quiz that day on the polyatomic ions on p.288. You should be reviewing your flashcards for these. If you never made those recommended flashcards, here is a link to some online ones.
-One last thing, I will collect the Module 7 Test on January 10 as well.

Enjoy your last few days of freedom!
